Zoo volunteers have an interest in wild animals, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn.  To become a docent, all you need to do is attend a Volunteer Orientation Session, fill out a Volunteer Application and return it to the Education Department with your training fee then attend Docent Training.
Training take place twice a year; March and September.

 No experience necessary—we will teach you everything you need to know.




Teen Docents

To become part of the Zoo Crew, you need to fill out a Teen Volunteer Application by May 18, and complete an in person interview. If selected for the program, you must return your registration fee by June 18.
Training takes place yearly and the program runs late June through August.
