Join us For Zoothing Lights – A Sensory Friendly Experience

SALISBURY, Maryland – Join the Salisbury Zoo in partnership with Salisbury University’s Psychology Department on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for a special holiday event Zoothing Lights, tailored for families and guests with different abilities.

This unique collaborative event with Salisbury University is designed to provide a calming, inclusive holiday experience, for sensory-sensitive individuals to enjoy the magic of the holiday season in a way that feels comfortable and welcoming. Zoothing Lights offers a soothing atmosphere for sensory-sensitive individuals and their families to enjoy the magic of the season at their own pace, making it a truly special experience for everyone.

Event Highlights Include:

  • Sensory-Friendly Environment: The event is designed to minimize loud music, flashing lights, and large crowds, providing a calming atmosphere for those who may be sensitive to sensory overload.
  • Twinkling Trails: Visitors can stroll along a path of twinkling lights, which are gentle and soothing, perfect for a more peaceful holiday experience.
  • Santa’s Christmas Cottage: Participants can visit Santa Claus in his cozy Christmas cottage, offering a quieter alternative to traditional holiday photo opportunities.
  • Gift-Making Activity: Create a special gift to be wrapped and gifted for a special someone, providing a fun and creative activity for all ages.

Important Information:

  • Dress for the Weather: This is an outdoor event, and it will be dark. Please come prepared for the weather and wear comfortable clothing.
  • Flashlight Safety: For the safety of our animals, please bring a flashlight (no phone flashlights allowed). Each family will receive a red film for their flashlight to ensure minimal disturbance to the animals. Only red lights will be permitted during the walk.

Tickets & Pricing:

Zoothing Lights is designed for families with sensory needs, and tickets are limited to ensure a more intimate, less crowded experience. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the gate.

  • General Admission: $10 per person
  • Salisbury Zoo Members: $5 per person
  • Parents & Children under 2: Free

Space is limited, so be sure to secure your tickets early!
