Our zoo is committed to being a sensory-friendly space where all guests can feel comfortable, included, and supported during their visit.
Being sensory-friendly means, we thoughtfully design our environments, programs, and events to reduce overwhelming stimuli and provide accommodations for individuals with sensory sensitivities, including those with autism or other developmental differences. Through our partnership with the Salisbury University Psychology Department, we develop and host programs that incorporate these principles, such as adjusted lighting and sound levels, flexible participation options, and designated quiet spaces. As a KultureCity certified organization, our staff is trained to recognize and respond to sensory needs, ensuring that every guest has the opportunity to engage, learn, and enjoy the zoo experience in a way that works best for them.
